Gentlemen of the Press

It is with a deep sense of responsibility that I address you this morning. According to an age-long adage, “a toad does not run in the day time for nothing”. My calling you out today is therefore not without reason.

Commission Presents Annual Report

It was a major breakthrough as the Akwa Ibom State Law Reforms Commission launched its 2009 annual report titled “Re-Awakening The Reformer” with a call on the public to purchase copies in order to avail themselves of the workings of the commission.
Describing the event as simple but special, the Chairman of the Commission, Barr. Cosmas Udoette said the publication of the report, which is one of the Commission’s statutory duties, was the first since its inception about 20 years ago.

Engr. Ekpotu Advises Political Organizations

The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu has implored political organizations in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area to close ranks and work together towards achieving their desired goal.
Addressing the people of Ikot Abasi in the Council hall, Ikot Abasi Engr. Ekpotu reaffirmed that the Caretaker Administration and ikot Abasi Democratic Coalition, a socio-political organization are actually working towards the same goal of mobilizing support for the Governor’s second term bid come 2011.

IGP Solicits Public’s Assistance in Tracking Criminals

The Inspector-General of Police in the Country, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onovo has appealed to the populace to join hands with the police by using new technology and Global Satellite Mobile Communications (GSM) to track kidnappers and fraudsters in the country.
Mr. Onovo while exchanging views with Governor Godswill Akpabio at Akwa Ibom International Airport (AKIIA), Okobo recently during his one-day official visit to Akwa Ibom said the police have to elicit the trust and confidence of the populace to use the same technology to track the criminals.

Ibiono Ibom Comes Alive For Gov. Akpabio

Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area has again, in less than two months, come alive for Governor Godswill Akpabio as the people took delivery of additional 15 life-changing and people-oriented projects executed through the Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Co-ordinating Committee.
The people, who were splendidly adorned in various uniforms, trooped out in their thousands, rolling out drums to receive and welcome the one who, according to them, has brought Ibiono Ibom into the scheme of things and given them a sense of belonging.
