21 New Projects For Nsit Ubium

The Present administration has reiterated its commitment to better the lives of the people of Akwa Ibom State.
This indication was given by the State Governor, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, at a Civic Reception organized for him at the Council Hall, Ikot Edibon, Headquarters of Nsit Ubium Local Government, where he had gone to inaugurate 21 people-oriented projects, executed through the Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Co-ordinating Committee.
Speaking through his Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Eunice Thomas, the Governor said it was because he had the interest of the people at heart that his administration has been embarking on life touching projects across the length and breath of the state.
He called on the people of Nsit Ubium to reciprocate Government’s gestures by following the path of peace, even as he noted with delight that the people were actually utilizing the free and compulsory education policy of his administration.
The inaugurated projects included the assembly hall, laboratory, six classrooms blocks 2 at Community Secondary School, Ikot Ekpene Udo; three classroom blocks at St. Stephen’s Primary School, Ikot Etobo and mini water at Primary Health Centre, Ikot Edibon and Ikot Ekpan.
Others were the examination hall and laboratory at Ubium Secondary School, Ikot Okwot; school block at Primary School, Ikot Okwot; a perimeter fence and main block at primary Health Centre, Itreto and a classroom block at Comprehensive Secondary School, Nung Obong.
Also inaugurated were the three classrooms and laboratory block, new laboratory, classroom block, assembly hall, fence/gate house and classroom blocks at Adiahaobong Girls’ Secondary School, Ikot Imo and Hostel block at Western Nsit Secondary School, Ukat Aran.
The Governor also took time off to pay a courtesy call on the paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium, Edidem Robert Obot, in his palace who prayed for him, his Government and the entire State.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Finance and Chairman, Inter-Ministerial direct Labour co-ordinating Committee, Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan, while applauding the massive support of the people of the area to the Akpabio-led administration, said that the emphasis of his Committee had shifted to mini water scheme and electricity.
Speaking through the Co-ordinator of the Committee, Mr. Friday Udoh, the Chairman urged stakeholders of communities yet to benefit from projects to forward their requests in the areas of their needs to the committee, promising them prompt actions.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government, Surv. Chris Ekpo, while acknowledging the fact that his area is a great beneficiary of the present administration, not only because of the many developmental projects sited there, but their sons and daughters occupy key positions in government.
While pledging his people’s continuous support for the state government and their determination to maintain peace, the Council Boss used the occasion to charge parents whose children were not yet in schools to do so without delay so as to benefit from the free and compulsory education policy of government.
Reacting on behalf of benefiting communities, Village Head, Ukat Aran, Chief Emmanuel Akpan and Principal, Adiahaobong Girls’ Secondary School, Ikot Imo, Mrs. Alice Obong, among others, expressed their profound gratitude to the governor foe his largesse.
