Akpabio Inaugurates Yet Another Projects In Uyo
Another sixteen life touching projects were inaugurated in Uyo Local Government by the promise keeping Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio through the state Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Co-ordinating Committee, programme.
The projects include a mini-water scheme in Ikono District Court at Nsung Ikono, Electrification in the motherless babies home at Ifa Ikot Akpabio, rehabilitation of school block in St. Peters Primary School at Mbiabong Anyanya, construction of perimeter fence, mini-water, sanitation and administration halls in the Judiciary headquarters at Ikot Ebido Oku.
Others were, mini-water scheme and perimeter fence in the judges’ quarters at line A-6 Ewet Housing Estate, installation of transformer at PHCN sub-station in the high court complex and rehabilitation of court building in the Chief Magistrate court at Atiku Abubakar Way, Mini-water scheme, perimeter and drainage in the magistrate quarters at line F – 98 Ewet Housing Estate.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Cooperative Matters, Barr. Saviour Udoh, the Governor stated during the commissioning that the state capital city deserves what it has from his administration, considering the fact that any identified area of life must be developed to the fullest no matter the odds or difficulties.
He said government has achieved the projects target set for Uyo between 2008 and 2010.
Speaking further, Chief Akpabio described the project which majority were on judiciary as a way of bringing justice and equity to the people of the grassroots.
He urged the people of Uyo to make sure the projects are guarded as personal treasure by protecting it against vandals, and also ask them to shun all vices of discrimination and kidnapping.
In his speech, the Chairman and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Bassey Akpan represented by the Committee Co-ordinator Mr. Friday Udoh thanked the people for their peaceful and wonderful supports at all the project sites.
In his reaction, Uyo Local Government Chairman, Dr. Chris Nyong appreciates the Governor’s effort stating categorically the on-going projects in Uyo like the flyover, e-library, Tropicana to mention but few, and the completed and commissioned ones in their various communities which has brought development to the state within a short time as acceptable and happily received by the people.
Also speaking on behalf of the people, the Registrar in one of the court project sites thanked the Governor for bringing his vision to actualization in the judiciary, saying they have longed for such development and then pleaded that government should look into judiciary staff union salary structure.
The head teacher of St. Peters Primary School also expressed her gratitude to the Governor for making her Alma mater a comfortable place for learning, stating that the pupils were formally receiving classes under the tree.
