Akpabio Lauds Inter-Ministerial Committee

The State Governor, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, has lauded the commitment and dedication by the Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Co-ordinating Committee, as evidenced in its equitable distribution of projects to all communities across the state.
Chief Akpabio made this commendation during the commissioning of 10 people-oriented projects executed by the Committee in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
The Governor, who noted with delight the siting of projects in the rural areas, even in very remote villages, inaugurated such projects as Rehabilitated two classroom office/store blocks at Primary School, Ata Obio Akpa and Primary School, Ikot Inuen; electrifications at Ikot Otok, Ikot Idem Udo/Ikot Akpainyang, Nung Ikot Obiodo and Urua Ekpo.
Speaking further, Governor Akpabio, represented by his Commissioner for Women affairs, Mrs. Eunice Thomas, urged parents and guardians to fully utilize the Free and Compulsory Education Policy of the present Administration by sending their children and wards to school.
While also applauding the Chairman of Oruk Anam for his developmental strides, the Governor lauded the people for their peaceful disposition and large turn out at each of the project sites and used the occasion to solicit their support for his second term bid.
In his contribution, the Commissioner for Finance and Chairman, Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour co-ordinating Committee, Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan, while expressing appreciation to the Chairman for his effort in ensuring that peace reigns in his Area, noted that this had enabled the Resource Persons handling the jobs to concentrate and deliver on schedule.
Speaking through the Committee’s Co-ordinator, Mr. Friday Udoh, the Commissioner urged all communities yet to benefit to send in their requests to the Committee, stressing that emphasis will, henceforth, be on water and electricity.
While welcoming the Governor and entourage to his domain, the Chairman of Oruk Anam Local government, Dr. David Umoessien, reaffirmed his people’s explicit confidence in the present Administration and declared their total support to Governor Akpabio’s Administration, even beyond 2011.
Dr. Umoessien said that in order complement the State Government’s developmental effort, he had embarked upon some projects and enumerated his achievements to include: the construction of a perimeter fencing of the Council Secretariat, renovation of all buildings within the Secretariat, construction of 3,500 sitting capacity pavilion and furnishing of Traditional Ruler’s complex, among others.
