Bureau To Empower Youths For Self Reliance

The Special Adviser, Bureau of Cooperative Development, Mr. Godwin Udom says his Bureau is gearing efforts to organize the youths, train and empower them in relevant skills to become self reliant.
Mr. Udom stated this in his office during a visit by the Chairmen of Forum of Youth Council in the State.
He advised the Youth Chairmen to organize the youths into Cooperative Societies to enable them benefit from the various governments’ programmes aimed at developing the capacity of youths.
Mr. Udom urged the youths to build on the existing foundation of trust as well as cooperate with the present administration in its determination to transform the state, adding that he will do his best to create positive impact on the lives of the people during his tenure.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Bureau, Mr. Maxwell Ojoko said the establishment would do everything to encourage the youths to form viable cooperative societies to help them to develop.
Mr. Ojoko called on the youths Chairmen in the thirty-one local government areas to do their best to control the youths under them as well as assist the state government in the transformation agenda.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman, Forum of Youth Council Chairmen in the state, Mr. favour Otong expressed optimism that the Special Adviser would ignite the spirit of entrepreneurship in the lives of the people to bring about wealth creation.
He called on the Bureau to design strategy to equip the people of the state with the requisite knowledge for self reliance and pledged to collaborate with the Bureau to build capacity for the grassroots people.
On behalf of the Youth Council Chairmen, Mr. Otong pledged total support to the administration of Chief Godswill Akpabio even beyond 2011.
