The 23 months old administration of Governor Godswill Akpabio in Akwa Ibom State has witnessed remarkable transformation in the State. This forms the basis of today’s commentary, in which Abdullahi Mohammed a public affairs commentator, analyses the highpoints of the Akpabio phenomenon in the State.

On assumption of office on May 29, 2007, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio declared his resolve to implement programmes that will massively and positively touch on the lives of the people of the state and in consonance with the manifesto of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Nearly two years in the saddle, the Governor has fulfilled his pledge to run an administration that would foster unity, and love as well as engender prosperity and harmonious coexistence among the people.

When Chief Godswill Akpabio assumed office as the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State on May 29, 2009 he left no one in doubt that he was in a speed of light hurry to develop the State.
This was because he did not want to let anytime go by without having things to show to the people of the state who buried tribalism and pettiness to cast their votes for him.
Again, Governor Akpabio needed to start early so that both projects he initiated alongside those inherited from previous administrations would see the light of the day early enough.

If you think that education is expensive, then try ignorance.
The importance of education as the bedrock to the development of our society, informed the decisions of past governments in the states and the country to subsidize that sector.
Fortunately or unfortunately, the only result that could be recorded was a free-tuition NOT free education regime.
Under this policy, parents had to cough out money through their noses to carter for the academic requisite of their wards from primary, secondary to University level.
