Council Boss Harps On Healthy Measures For Children
Activities making this year’s Children and Youth Day Celebration have been rounded off in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area with march past by uniformed organizations and school children at the Local Government Field, Ikot Abasi.
In his address on the occasion, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Ikot abasi Local Government, Elder Archibong Umoh assured children of the area of his Government’s determination to continuously improve their well being by supporting the State Government’s effort towards free ante-natal and post-natal services.
The Council Boss advised parents to imbibe the habit of feeding their ward with natural foods and said concerted efforts must be made to ensure that healthy measures are adopted to enhance the meal of the children as well as their mothers.
In the march past reviewed by Elder Archibong Umoh, Life Foundation Nursery School, Ikwa took first position, Q.I.C. Nursery School, Ikot Abasi Urban second position and Great Hope International Nursery School, Ukam third position in the Nursery Schools category.
In the Primary Schools category, St. George’s Anglican Primary School, Ikot Abasi took the first position, Methodist Primary School, Ikot Abasi Urban second position and Government Primary School, Ikot Umiang third position while AKAMA Catholic Girls’ High School, Essene, Secondary Commercial School, Ibekwe and Regina Coeli College, Essene took the first, second and third position respectively in the Secondary Schools category.
The event also featured cultural dances by school children where Great Hope International Nursery School, Ukam took the first position in the Nursery Schools category, St. Theresa’s Catholic Primary School, Ikot Abasi first position in the Primary Schools category and Ukpum Okon Comprehensive Secondary School, Okon first position in the Secondary Schools category.
Also speaking on the occasion, the Caretaker Committee member in charge of Education, Youth and Sports, Akparawa Anthony Ekpe commended the Nigerian Government for constantly setting aside this day to honour the children and the Caretaker committee Chairman, Elder Archibong Umoh for facilitating a successful Children and Youth Day celebration in Ikot Abasi.
