Govt. Commissions 13 Projects In Ikot Ekpene

The State Government has inaugurated 13 projects, executed through the Inter-Ministerial District Labour Co-ordinating Committee, in Ikot Ekpene local Government Area.
These include a newly constructed 3 bedroom flat, 2 bedroom detached staff quarters, 3 dormitory blocks for boys, 2 bedroom semi detached staff quarters and the newly renovated Principal’s quarters at State College.
Also commissioned were the main block, perimeter fence/gate house, staff quarters and the new central block at Primary Health Centre, Ikot Udoe.
Speaking on the occasion, the state Governor, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, represented by his Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Eunice Thomas, said that it was for the purpose of development that his administration was embarking on these facilities, aimed at securing the future of the state educationally, socially and health wise.
While soliciting for the support of all, he said his administration was determined to ensure that every Akwa Ibom community feels the touch of governance.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Finance and Chairman, Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Co-ordinating Committee, Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan, said that besides the commissioned ones, the Governor in his magnanimity had also executed 31 other projects which have been scheduled for commissioning in March and June as well as 33 on-going ones for the people of Ikot Ekpene.
Mr. Akpan who implored stakeholders to take good care of the projects sited in their domain, disclosed that his Committee was still compiling a list of more communities to benefit from the state government’s largesse, adding that emphasis had now shifted to water and electricity.
The Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government, Pastor Sunny Ibuot described his domain as the premier local government area in the whole of West Africa, adding that he was very proud to be associated with Governor Akpabio, going by the way he had touched every sector of the state’s economy, and pledged his people’s unflinching support.
