Akwa Ibom Government has lifted the ban slammed on the employment of people into the State Civil Service.
The ban on employment of persons into the state civil service was placed more than a year ago by the state government.
Governor Godswill Akpabio who announced this recently at the swearing-in of Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Chief Jacob J. Obot and two members of Judicial Service Commission, Chief Aniekan O. Akpan and Barr. Charles Inyang, directed the Head of Civil Service to work modalities for the employment of people.
Chief Akpabio lamented a situation where some nurses rise to position of director yet there are no longer junior nurses to work at the lower echelon of the profession, stating that work has actually suffered as a result of senior staff syndrome.
He congratulated the appointees particularly the chairman of the civil service commission who, according to him was appointed on merit not on political consideration.
The Governor noted that government took into consideration the geopolitical spread in the state in the appointment of the personages to occupy the various positions and the ethos of the civil service.
Chief Akpabio explained that since the out-gone civil service chairman performed well, the government had to look for a man of excellence and integrity to fill the vacant post to make the service a robust and dynamic one.
He charged the appointees to help in the training and re-training of civil servants and be patriotic, committed and dedicated in revitalizing the service.
