Govt To Site Naval School At Ikot Abasi
Akwa Ibom Government plans to build Naval Secondary School in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area to serve as a unity school for all interested children in the country.
Governor Godswill Akpabio who disclosed this recently while inspecting facilities and buildings in Police Secondary School in Essien Udim Local Government Area said this was necessary to complement the establishment of Naval Base in Ikot Abasi.
Chief Akpabio accompanied by his wife, Ekaette Unoma; Deputy Governor, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu, Senator Anietie Okon and Chief Executive Officer of Newswatch magazine, Ray Ekpu hoped that the school would open for classes this year.
He expressed happiness at the level of work done in the Police Secondary School and attributed this to commitment and hard work by contractors.
The Governor who inspected males/females hostels, classrooms, internal roads, library and other buildings called on the people in the area to cooperate with his administration.
Earlier, Chief Akpabio had inspected facilities and building in the newly constructed Ikot Ekpene prisons, which is to be relocated from the Aba-Uyo Federal Road.
Chief Akpabio had differently addressed people numbering more than 100 from the host communities where the projects are sited thanking them for donating their land and urged them to maintain peace and order.
The State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem who conducted the Governor round the projects explained and clarified certain issues involved in the job execution.
Enoidem who assured the Governor of his ministry’s readiness to complete and handover the projects on schedule pledged to make some modifications where necessary in line with Akwa Ibom standard.
