HEAD OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE CHARGES STAFF
Members of Staff of Abak Local Government Council have been charged to be dedicated and committed to their duties.
The Head of the Local Government Service, Abak, Obong Nse Inwang gave the charge during a meeting with staff of the council.
Obong Inwang frowned at poor attitude to work by staff and called for a change of attitude, adding that absenteeism, lateness and truancy among staff would not be tolerated. He warned that names of disobedient staff would henceforth be forwarded to the Local Government Service Commission for disciplinary action to be meted out on the offenders.
He said that under the new scheme of service, the Local Government has seven functional departments headed by directors and urged the staff to familiarize themselves with the new scheme and also be responsible to their respective departmental heads.
While welcoming the newly posted directors to the Local Government Council, Obong Inwang assured the workers of the management’s commitment to the improvement of their welfare. He commended the Chairman of the council, Atuekong Aniediabasi Udo, for providing conducive working environment and his prompt attention to staff matters.
In his remarks, the Director of Administration and General Services, Mr. Idorenyin Akpan assured that the staff will show positive attitudinal change and greater commitment to the service in 2010.
He said that all pending junior staff matters will be attended to within the first quarter of the year.
Speaking separately, the Director of Works Elder Emmanuel Ononokpono and his Finance counterpart, Mrs. Anieyie Akpan spoke of their determination to work diligently and called for co-operation of staff.
Responding on behalf of the staff, Mrs. Alice George of the health department promised to take their job seriously and urged the management to always protect the interest of workers when the need arises.
