Ibeno Fixes 1st Monday For Solemn Assembly
Ibeno Local Government has fixed the 1st Monday of the month to observe monthly solemn assembly beginning from Monday, 1st March, 2010 at Ulok Ulok Hall, Ubenekang and has made it mandatory for staff of the council to participate.
Similarly, the council has approved a weekly departmental prayer to be held simultaneously by all the departments in their respective offices on every Wednesday of the week beginning fro Wednesday, 3rd March, 2010.
These were some of the resolutions reached at the General Staff Meeting presided by the Head of Ibeno Local Government Service, Mr. Victor Mkpa recently.
He intimated the staff of the changes in the Local Government Administration which resulted in the implementation of the new scheme of service for Local Government Employees by the Local Government Commission.
The Head of Local Government Service stated that the appointment of the Heads of Local Government Service Directors in the Unified Local Government Service were in compliance with the provision of the new scheme of service backed up by the Law made by the State house of Assembly
Mr. Mkpa further disclosed that while the Head of Local government Service is the Coordinator of activities of all the departments in the Council, the Directors who are heads of their different departments are expected to report to the Head of Local Government Service on regular basis.
The Head of Ibeno Local Government Service announced that the Department Budget and planning has been created in the new scheme of service thereby increasing the number of departments in the Local Government Service from six to seven.
On the ‘E’ payment system introduced by the Commission, Mr. Mkpa explained that the policy was not to frustrate anybody but to streamline activities in the payroll unit by placing staff properly on their salary grade levels and steps in tune with the existing government circulars.
Commenting on staff attitude to work, such as loitering during official hours, leaking of official secrets, etc, Mr. Mkpa appealed to them to support the new policy of government assuring that the policy will remove frustration and stagnation from their career and also ensure their motivation for maximum efficiency, creativity and productivity in the service.
The meeting was attended by the Director of Administration, Mrs. Rita Akpanessien, Director of Works and Housing, Mr. Celestine Akpan, Assistant Director of Information, Anwana Esin, Jr., other heads of Department and NULGE officials.
