Ibiono Ibom Throws Weight Behind Akpabio For 2011
Thirteen people-oriented projects have been commissioned in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area by the State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio as part of the on-going inauguration exercise of Inter-Ministerial Projects in the state.
Governor Akpabio, who was represented by the Special Adviser, Bureau of Corporative Development, Barr. Saviour Udo, stated that these projects are tagged people-oriented because they are supposed to add value and meaning to the lives of the people of the area.
Chief Akpabio expressed his joy over the peace and good mannerly conduct of the people of the local government area and promised that due to their good conduct and love for his administration, more projects will definitely be inaugurated in the area. He went ahead to implore the people of the area to continuously imbibe the spirit of oneness and unity.
Speaking at the reception, the Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Committee, Mr. Albert Akpan, stated that Ibiono Ibom had always been neglected by past administrations but all that has changed since the advent of the Akpabio-led Administration, adding that Governor Akpabio has redeemed the lost glory of Ibiono.
Thanking the people of the area for coming out en-mass to give honour to whom honour is due, Mr. Akpan expressed his joy over the great level of support and solidarity for the Akpabio-led Administration displayed by the people, adding that so far, over 60 life impacting projects have been commissioned in the area and that come 2011, no community in the area will be left without electricity.
Also speaking at the reception, the Chairman of the Local Government Area, Mr. Godwin Ekpo, thanked Governor Akpabio for the free and compulsory education, massive infrastructural development and healthcare in the state.
Mr. Ekpo also lauded Governor Akpabio for the projects commissioned in the area and promised that he will ensure they are well protected from vandals and on behalf of his Local Government Area endorsed Chief Akpabio for 2011 and beyond.
During a courtesy call on him, the Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom, Edidem Ime Udousoro Inyang, thanked Chief Akpabio for making the day an ‘Ibiono day’, adding that he is proud the Governor is steering the state in the right course.
Edidem Inyang observed that the local government, with over 300 villages, could be said to be the largest in the state, and therefore pointed out that it deserves more life impacting projects. Edidem Inyang then went ahead to endorse Chief Akpabio for 2011 on behalf of the area and those in the Diaspora.
At PCN Senior Science School, Ididep, a total facelift was given to the school, involving the rehabilitation of several dormitories, laboratories, classroom and staff blocks thereby, making it the school with the largest number of inaugurated buildings.
In his vote of thanks, the Principal of the school, Mr. Eduese appreciated Chief Akpabio for the total facelift given to the school, adding that at a certain point, teachers and students had to study under umbrellas due to the dilapidated state of the buildings in the school but noted that things have changed since the advent of his administration.
Also thanking the Governor, the assistant school prefect, Inemesit Ekpe appreciated Governor Akpabio for raising the standard of education in the school and for the free education policy in the state, adding that it has gone a long way in taking the burden of school fees off the shoulders of parents in the state.
Other projects also inaugurated include mini water scheme and rural electrification projects.
