IKOT ABASI GETS YOUTHS EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Ikot Abasi Local Government, Elder Archibong Umoh has set up an eight-man Industrial Monitoring Committee to ensure that the youths of Ikot Abasi are gainfully employed by the Multi-national Companies operating in the area.
The committee headed by the chairman of Ikot Abasi Youth Council, Comrade Thompson Ekpo; has Mr. Ini John, Mr. Imo Okoko and youth presidents in the five clans of the local government as members.
Speaking at the occasion, Elder Archibong Umoh briefed the stakeholders on the efforts made by his administration in the past five months to improve the lot of the people and urged the youths to remain calm while cooperating with the Industrial Monitoring Committee members in their task to liaise with potential employers to engage them in employment.
He said the State Governor during the inauguration of Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Projects a couple of weeks ago in Ikot Abasi also inaugurated some projects completed by the Caretaker Administration.
He enumerated the projects to include, Town Hall, Abiaran, Ete; Town Hall, Ikot Ata Udo; Health Centre, Ikot Ekara, Edemaya; Information Centre, as well as Political and Administrative Block, all at the Council Secretariat, Ikot Abasi.
Elder Umoh said that the council administration was currently embarking on the construction of a Plaza and Security Village, opening-up new roads, grading old rural streets and ensuring that peace and security prevailed in the area.
He stressed the need to reactivate Mboho Ikot Abasi and called on the people to rally round his administration and that of Chief Godswill Akpabio so that the people can continue to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
Notable indigenes who spoke during the interactive session moderated by the State Officer of PDP, Otuekong Atako Ukporo extolled the pragmatic leadership style of Elder Archibong Umoh and applauded him and members of the Caretaker Committee for the good works they are doing in Ikot Abasi while pledging their unalloyed support to the caretaker committee and the State Government.
