The endorsement which took place during the stakeholders forum of the annual convention of the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria, AKISAN, (USA), held in Baltimore, Maryland, witnessed a large turn-out of indigenes from all parts of the country.
Mr. Umanah who was interacting with journalists following the unequivocal affirmation of support for the second term aspiration of Chief Godswill Akpabio by the indigenes under the aegis of Akwa Ibom Diaspora Network expressed appreciation to the citizens for their show of support and solidarity to the Governor. He thanked the leadership and members of Akwa Ibom Diaspora Network for the confidence reposed in the Governor by publicly endorsing him in far away United States.

Earlier while presenting the award, the Coordinator of the Akwa Ibom Diaspora Network, Mr. Clement Ikpatt, said the endorsement by the group, which is an umbrella body of other groups, became necessary after careful observation of the giant strides of the Governor in three years.
Mr. Ikpatt used the occasion to explain that the large majority of Akwa Ibom people outside the country were very appreciative of the giant strides made at home by the visionary government of Dr. Godswill Akpabio, adding that some of the negative noise heard from the free internet groups was not a reflection of the thinking of the generality of Akwa Ibom people in the diaspora.
The US based Afaha Offiong indigene added that the pronouncement by President Goodluck Jonathan during his recent official visit to the state and the vote of confidence he passed on the Akpabio-led administration was based on its credibility and unprecedented track records.
