Mkpat Enin Went Agog as Governor Commissions Projects
The promise keeping Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio has commissioned 17 Inter-Ministerial Projects at Mkpat Enin Local Government Area to better the lots of the people of the area.
The projects include electricity, classroom blocks, perimeter fence, magistrate court, health centre, tax office, mini water scheme, staff quarter and warehouse.
Represented by his commissioner for Education, Dr. Nseabasi Akpan, Chief Akpabio said that the construction of many classroom blocks and a health centre in the area were as a result of his passion for education so that the children will have a sound future and his undying love for his people.
In his speech, the commissioner for Finance and Chairman, Inter-Ministerial direct labour Committee, Mr. Bassey Akpan expressed his gratitude over the projects commissioned in the area, adding that he is overwhelmed by the health centre commissioned at the area where no government has ever entered.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Mr. Mfon Nkanteen congratulated the state governor for the indelible legacies he has left in the lives of the people and promised that the people of Mkpat Enin are solidly behind him come 2011.
He also promised that he will use his office to make the beneficiaries enjoy the projects to the fullest as well as making sure that the projects are protected from vandals.
Responding to these evergreen legacies of the promise keeper, the people of Mkpat Enin who were delighted to host the Governor showed their ineffable love through cultural dances, masquerades, flute playing and prayers
The climax of their happiness was the overwhelming endorsement of the Governor’s second term bid and a request for the construction of roads in the area.
Meanwhile, the ceremony was not without blessing when the executive Governor and entourage paid a courtesy call to the Paramount Ruler of Mkpat Enin, His Royal Majesty Edidem Justin Amankop Umoh who as well prayed and endorse his second term bid.
Dignitaries who graced the ceremony were Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Eunice Thomas, Commissioner for Finance and Commissioner for Science and Technology among others.
