Monitoring Committee Expresses Displeasure Over Staff Attitude To Work

The Chairman of the State Civil Service Monitoring Committee, Dr. Akpanim Ekpe has expressed displeasure over the poor attitude of some civil servants in carrying out their duties.
Dr. Ekpe made his feeling known when he led members the committee on inspection visits to the Ministries of Lands and Town Planning, Housing and Urban Renewal, Culture and Tourism, Health, Justice, Bureau of Public Service Matters and the State Internal Revenue Service.
At the various Ministries, the Chairman noted with disappointment, the absence of some key management staff whom, he said, should lead by example through prompt attendance to duty.
The monitoring Committee Chairman then directed the Secretary of the Committee to ensure that the attendance registers and staff nominal rolls of the Ministries visited were submitted to his office promptly to identify those staff who were late or absent from duty during the Committee’s visit.
Dr. Ekpe also reiterated the need for Directors of Administration to ensure close supervision and proper use of the attendance register to avoid a situation where some staff sign the attendance register for their absentee colleagues.
