Nsit Ubium To Spend N1.5b This Year
The Chairman, Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, Surv. Christopher Ekpo has presented a budgetary estimates of N1,482,400,000.00 for the year 2010 to Nsit Ubium Legislative Council.
The Budget Christened “Budget of Compensation” is by N103,660,000.00 lower than 2009 approved revised estimates.
Of the total estimate, N922,000,000.00 is for recurrent expenditure while N560,400,000.00 is for capital expenditure.
The sectoral breakdown of the capital expenditure shows that council will spend N104,100,000.00 on economic sector and N89,300,000.00 on social services sector.
Area development and environment sector has a budgetary allocation of N21,000,000.00 while general administration is given N346,000,000.00.
Presenting the budget estimates, the council boss, Surv. Chris Ekpo stressed that the policy thrust of his administration is derived from Nsit Ubium Economic Empowerment and Development Strategies (NU-LEEDS).
According to him, the policy thrusts hinge on education, health, Agriculture, Infrastructural Development and Industrialization.
Surv. Ekpo commended the people of Nsit Ubium for the support and encouragement given to his administration since it came on board, adding that his administration’s achievements within the period in office was as the result of the total co-operation given him by his Executives, Legislators, Staff and Political class of the area.
He particularly thanked the Council Legislators for their unflinching support and commitment towards the overall success of his administration and solicited for prompt consideration and passage of the budget to facilitate quick implementation of the development of the area.
Receiving the budgetary estimates, the Leader of the Legislature, Hon. Ntisong Ikemeke promised that the estimates will be urgently attended to, to ensure prompt passage.
Present during the presentation were the Vice Chairman, Elder Ekpo Ekpo, the Chapter Chairman PDP, Elder Inyang Anyang, Council Secretary, Mr. Usiere Ubom, the Head of Local Government Service, Mr. Akpan Etukudo, Treasurer, Mr. Nnyeneime Umo, among others.
