Oron Nation Reaffirms Support For Akpabio’s Continuity

The Chairman, Oron Local Government Area, Hon Victor Okon has commended the State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio for the successful hosting of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan during his two-day working visit to Akwa Ibom State.
Hon. Okon made the recommendation in Oron while interacting with the Council staff in a meeting held in the conference hall of the Council.
The Council Chieftain lauded the people of the State for the warm reception accorded Mr. President at different projects’ sites, pointing out that that the President’s commendable remarks for the giant strides of Governor Akpabio’s administration has strengthened the people for their mandate bestowed on the Governor for continuity in office.
On the forth coming governorship election, the Chairman said the people of Oron had already declared their unchangeable mandate for Governor Akpabio and called on the people of the area to get ready to exercise their franchise during the general election.
The Council Boss urged the staff to give his administration full support, pointing out that the success of his administration depended on their concerted efforts and determination.
He also expressed his willingness to accord staff welfare priority attention, assuring that before December this year, staff bus would be procured, while functional canteen, toilet system and water supply would be provided.
The New Head of Local Government Service, Mr. Victor Mkpa appreciated the Chairman for finding time to address the staff in his maiden meeting with them and appealed to the staff to be committed and shun lateness to work, truancy, refusal to carry out lawful orders, wrong routing of mails, leakage of official secrets and other misdemeanors.
He specifically expressed displeasure over the negative attitudes of some staff in leaking official secrets to some litigants thereby resulting in numerous court cases and warned that those staff should desist from such attitude.
The NULGE Chairman for Oron, Comrade Ufi Ufi in his response thanked the Chairman, the Head of Local Government Service and the new Directors for their readiness to design useful packages in favour of the staff, expressing the willingness of the staff to cooperate and perform their legitimate duties creditably.
