Seven Village Heads Receive Certificate of Recognition

Seven village heads in Okobo Local Government Area have been presented with certificates of recognition by the State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio.
They are: Chief Etim Okpoekuenyin of Otieke Nduong, Chief Raymond Esuk of Ape Amamong and Chief Efanga Ema of Ikot Iquo.
Others are: Chief Okon Adahanam of Eyede, Chief Okon Osumakit of Afaha Osu and Chief Francis Ekpenyong of Atikpa village.
Presenting the certificates on behalf of the State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, the Paramount Ruler of the area, Owong Bassey Andem Ibok thanked the Governor for ratifying the appointment of the seven chiefs as substantive village heads.
Owong Ibok noted that with the confirmation, the village heads were now fully empowered to administer their communities to ensure that peace and order was maintained.
He advised them not to engage in partisan politics as government will not hesitate to withdraw certificates from village heads found to be actively engaged in politics.
Also addressing the new village heads, the Council Chairman, Deacon John Ita congratulated them on their confirmation and charged them not to use their positions to victimize their subjects, but rather, to use it for the overall betterment of their people.
He urged them to be vigilant and report any criminal activity in their domain to security agencies as they will be held responsible for any breach of peace and order in their communities.
Responding on behalf of the village heads, the village head of Ape Amamong, Chief Raymond Esuk assured the Paramount Ruler of their readiness to work for the general good of their people and sued for co-operation from the people, the government and security agencies.
He thanked the State Governor for approving their recognition and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for facilitating the issuance of the certificates.
