Special Adviser Tasks Staff
The Special Adviser, Bureau of Public Service Matters, Elder Sunny Akpadiaha, has charged staff of the Bureau to show commitment to their duties in order to enhance prompt service delivery.
Elder Akpadiaha who gave the charge during a meeting with the staff, said the Bureau has a responsibility of providing consultancy services to other sectors of the civil service and noted that staff of the Bureau are, by extension, consultancy service providers; thus their responsibility is knowledge based.
He charged them to always make good use of the training programmes they undergo yearly to improve on their service delivery as the management of the Bureau will not close its eyes against laxity and poor attitude to work.
The Special Adviser disclosed that government has contracted the services of an external management consultant to re-organize and streamline the structure and functions of the entire Public Service which includes Parastatals, Government Agencies and Government-owned companies, stressing that the Bureau of Public Service Matters would serve as the liaison office to coordinate inputs from the Ministries, Departments and Agencies to the consultants.
Flanked by his Assistant Director of Administration, Mr. Ufon Etok and the Assistant Director of Finance, Mr. Ukpe Nana, Elder Akpadiaha enjoined the staff to buckle up for the challenges ahead with the spirit of teamwork and collaboration for efficient productivity, while warning that it will no longer be business as usual where staff exhibit poor attitude to work.
He directed the Assistant Director of Administration to embark on routine inspection of staff and their performances in the office from morning and afternoon to ensure that everybody shows absolute commitment to work.
The Special Adviser, therefore, promised to continue to build th capacity of the staff through training programmes to make them fit for the responsibilities of the Bureau of Public Service Matters.
The Assistant Director of Administration, Mr. Ufon Etok thanked the Special Adviser for his fatherly advice and promised that staff will from henceforth show improved attitude to their duties.
