Staff Receive Advice
Staff of Nsit Ibom Local Government Council have been advised not to relent in their commitment to assigned duties in order to justify the workers friendly disposition of the present government.
The new Head of Local Government Service, Elder Sunday Umoren, gave this advice during his maiden meeting with staff at the Council Hall, Afaha Affiong.
Elder Umoren used the forum to commend the council Chairman, Elder Joshua Asuquo, for according staff welfare top priority in his scheme of things, adding that this will make their job less burdensome and promised to look into the staff ‘s requests with a view to solving them.
He also used the occasion to enlighten the staff on the changes effected in the Local Government system including the central pay-rolling which is designed to ensure promptness and uniformity in salary payment assuring that it will not affect loans; salary advancement and overtime.
He therefore promised that staff with genuine cases arising from the changes will be looked into by the Local Government Service Commission, adding that general amnesty had been granted to those wrongly employed into the local government workforce few years ago by Governor Godswill Akpabio in line with his human empowerment policy and warned them against all forms of indiscipline stressing that erring staff will be appropriately sanctioned.
Speaking on behalf of the entire staff, the National Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) Chairman, Comrade Monday Udom, expressed appreciation to the Council Boss, Elder Joshua Eyo Asuquo, the new Head of Local Government Service, Elder Sunday Umoren, the Directors and the entire management for their blue print for workers and requested that the issue of staff claims should be looked into.
He therefore said that staff will soon get used to the changes and pledged the cooperation and support of the workers to the new management.
Present at the meeting were the newly posted Directors including Director of Administration and General Services, Elder (Mrs.) Affiong E. Ebieme, Director for Works, Housing and Transport, Elder Offiong E. Bassey, Director of Finance and Head of Accounts, Elder Otu Effanga and other Directors among others.
